Tab inlaid necklace with hand rolled gypsum beads. A reimagined version from the vintage Thunderbird necklaces.
This piece I envisioned creating a necklace that focused on the tabs used on the old vintage Santo Domingo Pueblo Thunderbird necklaces, incorporating it with authentic hand rolled gypsum stone beads that I made myself using the same ancestral Pueblo techniques and method. Alot of hard work and time consuming to create these hand rolled beads. In between the beads I used authentic Santo Domingo Pueblo heishi as spacers. On the Inlaid tab pendant I also used all natural material. Natural high-quality Blue Gem turquoise, vintage Mediterranean Coral, black jet and Inlaid onto shell. The turquoise in-between the black jet pieces is my interpretation of Chaco doorway. The sterling silver hook and eye are also handmade by me. This is definitely a very unique piece that I designed and crafted. I added a sterling silver disc with my signature brand (LeJeune) stamped on the disc and added onto one size of the strand authenticating it's handmade by me and an authentic Santo Domingo Pueblo made necklace.
