"CHACO SERIES COLLECTION" Reversible neck piece..

This piece is a design that my Pueblo ancestral people did at Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde and other ancestral homelands.  Today these are the names we know them by. In our native language there are many different names that these ancestral homelands are called. I have a deep connection and interest in the old style of jewelry that was made and worn during those times.  So alot of my pieces are my reimagined version of what they made. On this piece it has authentic hand crafted Heishi (shell beads). I also hand crafted the two natural Cerrillos turquoise beads added since alot of the old pieces made by my Pueblo ancestral people used Cerrillos turquoise which is located near my Pueblo of Santo Domingo Pueblo.  I used this rare type of shell called "Glycemeris" it is the type of shell that was found at alot of ruins here in the southwest.  These shells were brought and traded through trade routes and our ancestors used and worked with them creating beautiful objects to wear. On the ends I used my hand crafted sterling silver hook and eye.  I brushed finish polished them to give an older look. Near the top of one side by the hook I added my signature brand "LeJeune" on a silver disc. Indicating I'am the maker of this piece. The reverse side of the shell I added four Heishi beads that are drilled. In the center is a small natural turquoise nugget.  If you look closely the turquoise nugget naturally has a shape of a frog, amazing !. Simple and beautiful with so much to say!.
